1.FREE of antibiotics, growth hormones and GM feed
Animals raised organically are not allowed to be fed antibiotics, the bovine human growth hormone (rbGH) or other artificial drugs. Animals are also not allowed to eat genetically modified foods.
2 BSE FREE.
Feeding cattle the ground up remains of other cattle appears to cause bovine spongiform eucephalopathy, a horrific disease that destroys the Central Nervous System and brain which can be given to humans that eat the infected beef.
3.Humane, ethical treatment of animals
Our organic welfare standards are second to none. We ensure animals are kept in small family groups, have plenty of room to exercise and are allowed to behave in a natural manner.
4.Sustainable methods of production
Organic farming requires the management of natural cycles of production. For example animal manure is collected and properly composted before being applied to the land as a fertiliser. This feeds the plants to produce grass and hay to feed the animals the following season.
5. Fewer Chemicals used.
Synthetic pesticides and fertilisers are not used on the food or land. Residues of persistent chemicals such as DDT, PCBs, dioxin and many pesticides concentrate in animal fat. Eating organic animal fat reduces your exposure to these chemicals.
6. Supporting your own national economy
