Churchtown Farm Organic Produce meet H.R.H. Prince of Wales

Royal Visit.

We were recently nominated, as one of the leading food producers in Northern Ireland, to meet HRH Prince Charles, on his recent visit to Northern Ireland.

The event took place in Nick’s Warehouse, one of Belfast’s leading restaurants, where we, and other food artisans met with Prince Charles to discuss our foods, the importance of local produce, and the challenges of producing foods in an increasingly competitive market.

Prince Charles seemed genuinely enthused with the event. He sampled many different products as he circulated throughout the room.He spent at leat 5 minutes with each producer. We told him of our farm, the breeds we use, and he expressed enthusiasm for our use of the native, traditional beef breeds, particularly the Beef Shorthorn, He asked had we had much hel frm government in establishing our business and what future assistance we needed to develop our businees further.

To conclude the event he stressed the importance of local food in establishing a local identity. He said that he was encouraged by what he had seen and wished everyone the best success in the future.
